Natchaug Music Newsletter: The Voice of Still Pickin’ Vol. 4 #5
December 15, 2016
We finished up our 2016 season with a nice concert at the Killingly Grange in Dayville, CT. The folks who come out to the grange to hear bluegrass music are a very receptive crowd. They love the music. It is always fun to perform for them.
Jim left the next morning before daybreak for his home in Florida leaving us all behind to get through these brutal winter days. He will be playing golf of course so it’s just a matter of out-of-sight-out-of-mind. We’ll have to be content knowing that even though he has pretty much forgotten about us for now, he will come back in the spring.
In October we finished up recording the tracks for our CD. Mixing is underway and we hope to have a CD release party in early 2017 if we can find a place to do that. Anyone have any suggestions?
The songs on the CD include Log Cabin in the Lane. Cindy, Beautiful Brown Eyes, Corrina Corrina, Roll in My Sweet Baby’s Arms, Jimmy Brown the Newsboy, I Wonder How the Old Folks Are at Home, Little Darlin’ Pal of Mine, Careless Love and Ruben’s Train.
We also included four songs written by Myrna plus one written by Jim and Myrna called I’m Still Pickin’. The title of our CD will be Ruben’s Train.
While Jim is away, Bob and Myrna are going to hire themselves out as a duet this winter. Guess what this little crew of two is going to be called. Yup. It’s going to be Slim Pickin’.
We wish each of you a Merry Christmas or a Happy Hanukkah, or if you prefer, a Happy Christmas and a Merry Hanukkah. We hope you will each have a healthy and prosperous New Year. We’ll look forward to seeing you at one of our concerts in 2017.
From the Still Pickin’ Trio,
